Q: What is required to start my medical and dental coverage?

A: You will become eligible for medical & dental insurance once you have completed 500 hours of work in which contributions are made on your behalf to the Welfare Plan within a 6 month period. Once you have met the initial eligibility, your coverage will continue for each succeeding 3-month period as long as you continue to have contributions made on your behalf and you qualify for one of the four possible scenarios in each 3-month category listed below:

Q: Will my coverage start the day once I meet the 500-hours initial requirement?

A: Coverage will begin on the first day of the second calendar month following the 500 hours worked.

Q: Can I pay the difference for the initial 500 hours?

A: No. In order to initially qualify, you must physically work the 500 hours.

Q: When my insurance runs out, will I receive notice?

A: Yes. A letter will be sent to the address that is on file at the Fund Office.
